The poet and the cousin.

This portrait was made at an intimate party at a painters house after the presentation of a new poetry book. The poet is the lady in the background. She is also "the mother". The daughter is the young lady that looks towards the camera and holds her hands gently on her cousin.
I love this spontaneous shot which captures so much insight in these three ladies.. All other more or less famous people are cut out and it is like cutting out a small moment of intimacy. Also the look of "the cousin" (which is Gaia, of which other pictures exist in my gallery) is so capturing and intense...

The light conditions were extremely tight. Shot on an AgfaPan 400 pushed to 800. I used my Leica M2, Summicron 50 f2 at full aperture and probably the exposure time was a 1/30' or possibly even 1/15' (yes, I used even those times that night... terrible)
